Typical Applications

1045 hot roll rounds has a wide variety of applications. It is used for machinery parts, die forging, hot upsetting, gears, crankshafts, shafts, axles, bolts, studs, pinions, etc. Can be hammer forged. 1045 can be used where greater strength is required than can be obtained from the lower carbon steels. It responds to heat treatment, and a wide range of properties can be obtained. When higher dimensional accuracy and straightness in the productions of shafts are required, 1045 Turned, Ground and Polished Precision Shafting is recommended.
