IN THE SPOTLIGHT |
This month we're featuring customer Bill Zeiler, who built this accessory reverse unit for a Mokai jet boat application out of metal he bought from Speedy. He uses aluminum, brass, and stainless steel. Bill says: "It fastens to the steering nozzle and is controlled from the boat cockpit via a cable and lever assembly. I do this as a hobby and have built several for friends who have these boats."

DID YOU KNOW...? |
...that the majority of aluminum Christmas trees in the '60s were made in Manitowoc, WI? Aluminum Christmas trees began being manufactured around 1955 by Modern Coatings, Inc. of Chicago. But the majority of aluminum Christmas trees were made right here in Wisconsin, by the Aluminum Specialties company of Manitowoc. Between 1959 and 1969, they manufactured over a million aluminum Christmas trees, before the trees lost their popularity, in part due to A Charlie Brown Christmas. By the late 1960s, the era of the aluminum Christmas tree was almost entirely over. Today, aluminum Christmas trees are experiencing a resurgence in popularity, especially among collectors. If you happen to see one, remember that it likely came from Manitowoc! |
