NEW: Speedy Metals now has blasting capabilities:
We are excited to announce that our new blaster is up and running! It is a conveyor design where the parts are set on a chain conveyor and fed through a blasting cabinet where the parts are blasted on all sides at once.
It does an excellent job removing rust and most mill scale from plate:
FAQ
- What are the size limits?
The size limits are 12” x 18” with no limit on the length so it can be used for bars tubes, angles etc. Since it is an open chain design there is also a 3” x 3” minimum size. Eventually we will be building baskets to carry smaller parts.
- How much will it cost?
We will be charging a $30.00 minimum and $.22/ lb.
- How long will it take?
Turn around should only be a day or two.
- What if my parts are too big?
If parts are too big for our machine we will still have to send them out for blasting.

CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT
This month we're featuring customer Ian Racer, who sent us these pictures of the model steam engine he built using metal from Speedy.
He says: "This is the steam engine I've have been building in my spare time over the last few year I have purchased 90% of my metal and brass from Speedy Metals to create this model."

What You're Saying:
"I am not a metal shop, I don't build cars for a living, just a regular guy maker / tinker / hobbyist who doesn't need a flatbed or even an entire sheet of metal for a couple few projects I have that need to get done. Thanks for the reasonable prices and the fact that I can order what I need without having to figure out how I am going to receive an oversized order or where I am going to store the extra material."

Did You Know...?
...that aluminum might one day be the key to fusion power?
Building a fusion reactor requires materials that can withstand extreme temperatures and the extremely corrosive environment created by liquid metal coolants.
Researchers have been exploring the use of ODS FeCrAl alloys (iron + chromium + aluminum) to create protective oxide layers to protect reactor components.
The experiments were successful - the oxide layers "adhered strongly to the alloy surface, with minimal degradation, even under high thermal stresses."
