CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT

This month, we're featuring customer Robert Sytek who used the metal he got from Speedy to make these angle iron cats!

He says:
"I used 2" x 1/8" angle iron. Cut 1/4" from the bottom almost to the end, then forged the tail out. Used a fuller punch to make the feet, and a fuller plus flatter tool for the nose. Body shape was cut away and filed smooth. The eyes and whiskers were done using a punch and chisels."

Did You Know...?

...that transparent aluminum is not just the stuff of science fiction?

Transparent aluminum (of Star Trek fame) is a real material, which is incredibly hard and scratch-resistant. However, it is also incredibly difficult and expensive to manufacture, "requiring high-powered lasers, vacuum chambers, or large vats of dangerous acids."

That may all be about to change, thanks to researchers at Ateneo de Manila University, who discovered that transparent aluminum can be produced by applying micro-droplets of acid to the aluminum sheet and activating it with just 2 volts of electricity.
