CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT... This month we're featuring Stephen Gannon who made Mjolnir! He says: "It’s made from over 20 pieces of stainless steel, tig welded together, and then meticulously ground and sanded. The Celtic design and runes are electro etched. Most of the plate is 1/8” stainless, and the end pieces are 1/4”. Want to see your work featured here? Send us an email at newsletter@speedymetals.com. You can also check out other great customer projects on our blog or on our Facebook page. |
WHAT YOU'RE SAYING... "Speedy Metals has always given me good raw material for a good price, and super fast shipping."

DID YOU KNOW...? ...that metals get stronger as the size of their grains gets smaller? But only to a point! If the grains are smaller than 10 nanometers, they are thought to slip past each other like sand in a dune, weakening the metal. But now, scientists have discovered that under certain conditions, a metal's strength can continue to increase at even smaller grain sizes - down to 3 nanometers. This gives us a new way to think about strengthening metals - by engineering their grain surfaces to suppress grain sliding. Learn more in the full article. |
